River came into our care after we spotted her in a crowded shelter in Turkey. She was blind in both eyes, painfully thin, and curled up in a cold metal cage — unseen, unwanted, and utterly alone. With no chance of adoption and very little hope, her future looked bleak.

We don’t know what happened to Riva before she arrived at the shelter, but we knew we couldn’t leave her there. Without intervention, she wouldn’t have survived.

Now safe with us, River has received the medical care she desperately needed. Her eye sockets have been closed to prevent ongoing infections, and she’s adapting beautifully to life without sight. Despite everything she’s endured, River is gentle, affectionate, and eager for comfort and love.

River is ready to begin the next chapter of her life — and what she needs most is a warm, patient home where she can feel safe and cherished.
