Cindy is a beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer, rescued from the remote Artvin province in Turkey, near the Georgian border. She was found abandoned near a dam construction site, having suffered terrible injuries — most likely from a construction vehicle running over her back legs. One of her paws was crushed and she sustained slight damage to her spine, but despite it all, she’s shown incredible resilience.
Cindy can stand and walk on her back legs and gets around with ease. She is able to toilet herself without any issues.
Local volunteers estimate Cindy to be around 7 years old. She clearly had a home before, as she was not equipped to survive on the streets. Unspayed and alone, she gave birth to a litter of puppies — only one of whom survived. Malnourished and vulnerable in freezing conditions that drop to -25°C, Cindy was struggling to find food and shelter when we found her.
She came into our care in October 2024 and is currently safe at a boarding facility in Turkey. Cindy will be ready to travel to the UK from July 2025.
Cindy is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. All she wants is a warm bed, regular meals, and plenty of love. While her back leg injuries mean she’s not up for long-distance running, she still enjoys gentle walks and exploring her surroundings. She’s friendly with other dogs, cats, and children.
We are now looking for a long-term foster or forever home for Cindy in the UK. Her ideal home would be a quiet house with a secure garden and a family that understands her mobility needs.
If you think you can give Cindy the loving home she deserves, please fill in our foster/adoption application form. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
